With the uncertain global economic landscape it's more important than ever to have governmental support for innovation. So I was disappointed to read that our public technology spending is languishing behind other countries in the developed world.

If we want the world's best startups and scale-ups to take us seriously as an entrepreneurial hub, we need to offer the infrastructure and technology necessary to enable their growth. It's simply not good enough to be ranked just 20th in the world for internet speed. We've lost to Iceland again and have just 55.6% of the average speed offered in South Korea!

The government needs to carefully consider its technology investment plan to ensure that our vibrant tech sector remains competitive and attractive on the global stage.
